Sunday Services

& THE PASTOR

Our Sunday Services are simple and without ritual. We do not have a sermon prepared by a minister as in other Christian denominations. Instead the service is conducted by two Readers, and its main component is the weekly ‘Lesson-Sermon’, prepared by The Mother Church and used by all branch churches. It comprises readings from the Bible and from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy, the discoverer of Christian Science. Science and Health interprets and explains the Bible, clarifying its healing message and its relevance to life today. The Bible and Science and Health are our Pastor.

Wednesday

testimony meetings

The Wednesday Testimony Meeting includes hymns and readings from the Bible and Science and Health chosen by the First Reader on a specific theme. This is followed by an opportunity for the members of the congregation to give gratitude for healings, and share insight gained through their study of Christian Science.

Wednesday Services: 7:30 P.M. – 8:30 P.M.

What is

Christian Science?

Christian Science is a religion and a way of life based on the teachings of Jesus and the discoveries of Mary Baker Eddy, that is a practical help in everyday life, especially regarding positive mental health. It provides spiritual healing and renewal, based on the understanding of our true nature as God’s creation and faith in His power.

What we Believe

Mary Baker Eddy, the founder of Christian Science, outlined a few brief tenets, rather than a creed or doctrinal beliefs, that summarize the essential points of Christian Science, all of which are rooted in the Bible

Christian Science

Sunday School

The Sunday School is an environment where young people up to the age of 20 can feel totally supported. They can discover how spirituality is relevant in their lives and how it fits into every day and shows up in everything they love to do. They can ask questions and find out how to apply spiritual truths to their own experiences.

Children are taught primarily from the Bible, using stories that are appropriate to their understanding, including key lessons such as the Ten Commandments, the Lords Prayer, and the Beatitudes. As they progress they will also be able to explore the deeper messages found in that week’s Lesson Sermon.

Young adults are guided towards the study of the Bible and Science and Health in more depth, to learn how Christian Science heals and how it can help them look for meaningful answers to the things that come up in their lives.

We also have a nursery where babies and toddlers can be looked after in a fun and caring environment.

To find out more about what young people in Christian Science are doing, go to The Mother Church youth website by clicking here.

we invite you to visit our

Reading Room

Our Reading Room is a community resource which provides a centre for the exploration of spirituality, prayer and healing. It has two parts:

The Study Room has a wealth of study material, including Bible dictionaries and concordances, all Mary Baker Eddy’s works, and copies of Christian Science Publications going back to the early 20th Century.

It is a quiet and comfortable room where you can study and pray. The current week’s Lesson Sermon is ready for your use and there is also a computer through which you can access the Mother Church websites.

The Sales Room is is a shop where you can buy or borrow Christian Science literature and publications. Most are in printed form, but we also stock CDs and tapes. For information on some of the publications from the Christian Science Publishing Society click here.

There is a librarian on hand to answer questions and guide you towards what will best meet your needs.

We would love to hear from you
